The play was funny and excellent production.
Becky’s New Car is the very first production this season where we didn’t nod off. The production was wonderful and the cast was superb. This is what entertainment is all about. More shows of this venue would sell more season tickets. Kudos to cast, crew and staff…..well done!
One of the best shows I’ve ever seen at IRT – wonderful production with fun, entertaining audience participation. “Well done,” to all involved!
What a brave and wonderful show! Constance Macy offers a tremendous performance as Becky. This show pushed her and Robert Neal to have a unique relationship with the audience (I won’t ruin it for those who have not attended yet) and showed their strength in maintaining their characters’ personalities. Nicholas Hormann established a sweet, open, vulnerable man who received a surprise, though not the one he thought he’d gotten. It was a joy to see him in his scene with Robert. Adriano, Michael, Lisa and Cindy offered us rich interpretations which were assisted by great blocking, a partnership with the set, and wonderful lighting effects. Well done, IRT, well done.
We saw Becky’s New Car on Wednesday, April 7th. The cast was fantastic and we are still laughing at some of the lines! We have never been disappointed at the IRT. Thanks to all who bring this quality entertainment to all of us!
My wife and I attended the production of Becky’s New Car last evening. We knew nothing about the show in advance but always look forward the IRT offerings. We were blown away with the wonderful performances! The way we (the audience) were drawn into the play was magical. We loved the casting and the story. What humor and pathos! Thank you for an amazing job!

We have been members of IRT since 1978, this is one of the best productions we have ever seen. Great job.
My husband and I saw this play last night and absolutely loved it. I have not laughed that hard for a long time. The actors were extremely well-cast, the staging terrific, and the audience participation a fun surprise. I would highly recommend it to anyone who has the time to attend during the upcoming final performances. Kudos to everyone involved with this production!
What a delightful play. I knew nothing about it going in. Found it extremely entertaining! Will recommend everyone go see it. I loved the audience participation.
I loved this play. It was very funny and the actors were awesome. Great job, IRT. I agree that the F bomb seemed out of place and the play would have been better without it. Other than that, it was perfect!
What a wonderful comedy! Fairly plausible series of events with just the right amount of irony. All of the actors were terrrific – funny without being overdone. Loved the inclusion of the audience throughout the play. I would recommend this play to everyone, but probably those with kids in college or older would appreciate it the most.
I knew nothing about the show in advance — didn’t know the story, hadn’t read any of the reviews, and had no expectations. What a surprise to find Becky’s New Car to be one of the best of the season. Very strong cast and clever dialogue. And as several others noted, the interaction with the audience enhances the pleasure. I can’t remember laughing that hard at a stage production ever. I really hope the show is held over because I’ve recommended it (no, insisted upon it) to several friends and family.
What a show…the dialog was very crisp and fast and believable. The timing was spot on. My husband and I thought it was a fabulous show. We have been members for years and it is always a treat to see your productions. This play was even better than your usual great job. The casting director did an excellent job with the acting selections…Thank you…and keep u the good work.
We LOVED it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely hilarious. The acting was great and the characters that they play are so relatable. I know, its not a word (I think) but it works. If your back and forth about seeing this Play, GO, you won’t be sorry that you did. Thank you to the Actors and the Production staff for a very enjoyable evening
I loved it! The humor was fantastic and the actors were amazing. The playwrite has amazing talent and the actors were perfectly cast. My favorite character was Joe, the lazy husband who was a plumber. I strongly recommend this show. One of the best shows that I have ever seen!
Our original tickets were for March 24 when Constance Macy became ill. We are thrilled we gave the play another chance and attended last night. What a funny, funny play and the actors were terrific! Will recommened to everyone I can.
We saw the play on Saturday! Very well acted and sooo funny! I’m going to take my mother this week for her Birthday. Great Play!
A seamless production. Each scene flows into the other so well, from the frantic pace of Becky’s life, and the ebb and flow of her husband, son, co-workers, and all…truly a great night of theatre.
Constance is comfortable in her skin as Becky, chatting it up with the audience as if we are good friends whose approval for her choices she desperately needs.
The cast has fun and seem to revel in their roles as real people, with all the dysfunction and humor that truly does happen to us in day to day.
A MUST SEE – truly a great comedy for today.
Steven Dietz has hit an A+.
I loved this show. I always enjoy farces, but this was one of the best. I went with my twenty something children and they enjoyed it as much as I did. Thanks IRT, always up for a comedy!
I have to admit a bit of confusion over the fact that some people seem to have enjoyed a play about infidelity (I am certainly one of those) but found the use of the “F” word offensive?? Isn’t that kind of hypocritical (or something)?
Again, I thought the whole thing was great.
This is the BEST show of the season; a must see! The actors are wonderful and likeable in their roles in this very funny play. We took friends and had a wonderful time. What a delightful interactive play!
Congratulations to the whole team and to the set design crew whose ingenious use of the corner table that pulled out into an office cube added humor to the play, too!
Totally no need to use the “F” word. It was an awesome play that would have been perfect without the foul language. What the actress was trying to portray could have been attained by a host of other words.
I usually do not like a farce but this was the most enjoyable I have ever seen. We have two extra tickets from our flex pass and I will give it to friends because they have to see this production. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon.
We had the pleasure of seeing this play yesterday – what a BLAST it was !! From the first minute, the audience was pulled into the play as participants, very fun !
All the actors/actresses did a superb job, “Becky” was awsome!
Go see this play, cancel any prior plans and just go see this play, you’ll laugh for 2 hours – and then laugh some more when you re-live the performance!
This play was the highlight of the season for me!
KUDOS to all !!
What a wonderful play, with truly gifted actors. This one belongs on Broadway. We have already made plans to see this play again, and we have invited friends who will laugh as hard as we laughed. Constance Macy, Nicholas Hormann, and Robert Neal are truly tied at the hip in this one. Comedy is all about delivery, timing, and an interaction of the artists that brings a story line together, and has the audience roaring as the play travels a pathway of enjoyable laughter. All I could say at the end of the play was, WOW. Thank you to the IRT Committee that selected this truly wonderful comedy.
This play truly belongs on Broadway. What a fabulous play, with each actor fulfilling his/her role as true artists. A comedy is all about the timing and delivery of lines that tie the story-line and the actor’s interactions tightly together, and we plan to see this play again! We are going to bring friends to a performance of Becky’s New Car because we want others to enjoy the IRT as we have enjoyed the performances this year. At the end of the performance, all I could say was “WOW!”.
We really enjoyed this play on March 27th. The actors, as always, were absolutely fantastic as were, as always, the sets. The actors showed perfect comedic timing.
It was definitley the kind of show you want to go out and tell your friends to see.
Thanks to everybody associated with the performance – this includes the stage managers and even th eaudiance partisipants. Good stuff.
A must see . . . extremely well written, staged, and played by the professionals and the amateurs. I would humbly and respectfully request and suggest that the one “F-word” be omitted in further performances. It does not fit with the tone or the mood of the play, and it does not fit with the character who speaks it. It seems gratuitous, which is beneath the writing and the acting. Otherwise, excellent throughout and a joy to see.
Macy and Company give a wildly funny performance that brings this delightful play to life! We were captivated from the first to last word. I have already given away $10 off ticket vouchers to several friends and co-workers encourging them not to miss seeing this delightful performance.
I saw the preview performance of Becky’s New Car on Tuesday night. From the moment it started I was captivated, and could immediately settle in and enjoy the show. From the start the audience is pulled in and involved. I really enjoyed how the play was presented. The cast did a fantastic job, and I laughed all throughout. This is one of the best shows I have ever seen. I would highly recommend that you go! I laughed more at this show then I have at some comedy routines!
Becky’s New Car is a remarkable picture of humanity. Each character is comically tragic. The use of the audience is genius as it pulls each of us into the situation being played out. We all find ourselves in situations begining is complete innocence and because of our decisions they become questionalble. I believe we all want a chance to change the things that don’t seem to be quite right about our lives and in the end we must acknowledge what we have done and be ready to forgive and be forgiven. Once again I am moved by the professional, classic productions at IRT GREAT JOB
What a fun night! Saw the preview on Thursday and was very pleased, it was quite delightful! The play reminded me of some of the old 50s or 60s romantic comedies. I have to agree with Byrnes on the “F” bomb. Really unnecesarry!
A word of caution: Eat light before attending…. you won’t be able to stop the laughter and your sides will be aching when you leave!
Saw the play tonight (Thurs). It was fabulous! I haven’t laughed for 2 solid hours in a long time. Great cast and script! Would love to see it again – and I have told my friends to GO SEE THIS ONE!
What a great girl’s night out! Twelve of us had a ball laughing and enjoying every minute of Becky’s New Car. I am recommending it to all my friends and coworkers. The play was a breath of fresh, Spring air.
What a great show! It was our first time to IRT, but definitely not our last! When we left, our sides hurt from laughing. The acting was superb, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We really had a wonderful time and have been recommending this show to everyone.
I thought the play was well written and well acted. The actors immediately draw the audience in. We were laughing the entire time! The only negative thing was the use of the “f” word during the second act. Other than that, this play very entertaining and funny and I highly recommend it!
Great show, would recommend seeing for everyone. The cast was great, kept us laughing thru the entire show. Fun time.
I saw Becky’s New Car last night with my friends, and we loved it! The cast was tremendous, and the play was terrific. It was so great to laugh out loud so frequently. We all had the same reaction…can’t wait to tell everyone that this is a must see!
